Is your audio quality falling short of the mark? Do you have to crank the volume to get it loud enough and then end up with a noisy, embarrassing result?
No bueno!
Most audio interfaces under-power the gain hungry dynamic microphones they're paired with.
That's why we created the MB-Stealth.
Stealth is a professional inline preamp booster designed specifically for dynamic and ribbon microphones. Its discrete class-A design and superior FET's gives the Stealth an incredibly low noise floor; allowing the Stealth to deliver pristine, balanced, and transparent sound. The Stealth can be connected inline, directly to your microphone. This eliminates the need for extra XLR cables (which also reduces noise), and allows you to tuck it out of the way for a truly minimal and “stealth” aesthetic.
Using your MB-Stealth is crazy simple:
- Plug the MB-Stealth into your dynamic or ribbon microphone.
- Connect an XLR cable between the Stealth and your audio interface.
- Turn on phantom power.
- Slowly turn up the gain to the desired level.
Technical Specs:
- Gain: 28dB (load 1kohm)
- Frequency Response: 20-20kHZ
- Max output level (0.5% THD): 8.3dBv
- Output Impedance: 135 ohms
- Current: 3mA
Note: Stealth is designed for passive ribbon and dynamic microphones. Not for use with condenser microphones as it does pass on the phantom power needed for a condenser mic. This is also why it is 100% safe for ribbon microphones.
* Requires 48V external phantom power.
I purchased this for my AT2040 connected to my Scarlett 2i2. It cut my gain in half and reduced the floor nice to a minimum. This is a beast of an alternative to the cloud lifter. The only con is you have to connect it to the back of a mic or have two xlr cables. It will not plug into your interface/mixer. It’s made for Shure SM7B so that would make sense. But other than that it’s perfect….for me.
After doing a bunch of research about why I was having low input levels with my new Shure SM7B Mic + Focusrite Scarlett Solo Audio Interface I decided to try a pre-amp booster. The stealth seemed like the best bang for the buck and sure enough it worked like a charm. The Stealth went in nicely between the Shure and the Scarlett and blends in perfectly on the boom arm so I don't have an extra box and cable sitting on my desk. I can now turn down the gain on my audio interface and get much more input from the mic than I did previously and with no extra noise. Really great product and less expensive than the Cloudlifter that was recommended to me.Very happy customer here, thanks Coda!
I am using the ubiquitous Shure SM7B, with an Audient ID4 Mk ii. It works, it works quite well. But with a Coda Stealth in the line, it works a lot better.
28 dB of CLEAN boost works wonders for the sound quality. It blends in with the mic and the Rode PSA1 . So to be honest, there is no “Song and dance” about “Look at my pre amp”. It’s not huge, it’s not Red, it’s not the centre of focus of the whole studio. It’s just a very good piece of kit. Which enables me to use significantly less gain on my ID4, and I have a ton of head room to play with if necessary. All round, an excellent piece of kit.
The down side is… well… I’ve not found one yet…
It all sounds a bit like this…..
